What is a travel
nurse?
A
travel nurse is nurse with at least one year of experience, who
takes short-term assignments in different facilities across the
country. Many of these assignments are from 8-26 weeks in length.
How much experience will I need to become a travel nurse?
Usually the rule is at least one year of experience in your
specialty. However, some hospitals may require 2-3 years of
experience, depending on their needs.
How do I know if I am ready to be a travel nurse?
If
you are confident in your nursing skills, flexible, well organized,
and able to adapt quickly to new surroundings, you will do well as a
travel nurse.
How much will I be
paid, and how often?
Pay
will vary depending on the facility, and the area of the country.

What type of facilities
will I work at as a travel nurse?

Will I need more than one license?
You
must have a current nursing license in the state of your assignment.
Some states have reciprocal acceptance of other states' permanent
licenses. Compact states and some government facilities accept other
state licenses. Some state licenses are obtainable in one to two
days, while others can take up to ten weeks. See our

assignment, how do I interview?
For
most assignments nurses are interviewed over the phone. When you
receive a call the facility usually wants to offer you the
assignment, but this is also your opportunity to determine if this
assignment is a good fit for you.

ensuring you have everything the hospital requires prior to your

ensure you have clean, safe housing close to the facility, and
