Axis Healthcare Staffing Walks for Autism

Dayton, OH – Axis Healthcare Staffing (Axis) announced their team sponsorship in the recent Walk Now for Autism, held in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 19, 2007.

Axis sponsored the "J-Man Team" in the annual 5K walk put on by the recently combined Cure Autism Now and Autism Speaks organizations. The company’s involvement was prompted by owner Stacey Stanley, who is originally from Atlanta and whose nine-year-old nephew was diagnosed with autism as a toddler. Several Axis employees participated in the walk and the team raised over $7,000 for autism awareness.

Stanley comments, " Every 20 minutes another child is diagnosed with autism. Of course we’re hopeful for a cure, but we also need to find ways to improve the quality of life for children and adults with autism. Because of my nephew, Josh, this cause is very close to my heart. My family is deeply involved in Georgia’s autism fundraising efforts, and everyone at Axis has been very supportive and enthusiastic about the company’s participation. This is our chance to make a difference in the fight against autism by raising money for autism research and heightening public awareness.”

The company plans to participate in the 2008 Walk Now for Autism in Atlanta, and in future autism awareness and fundraising events around the country.

About the 2007 Georgia Walk for Autism
2007 Georgia Walk for Autism, held on May 19, 2007 in Atlantic Station, benefits two organizations, Autism Speaks and The Marcus Institute; together dedicated to increasing awareness of the growing autism epidemic.  Autism is a developmental disability that is rising in prevalence with alarming speed. It is estimated that 10,000 children in the state of Georgia are affected by autism, a disorder of unknown origin that has no cure as of yet.  The Walk for Autism is one of some sixty Walks held around the country but the only one benefiting both research (Autism Speaks) and treatment (Marcus Institute).
